My Health II

Because of the drawn out and intense chemotherapy, I had problems which could not be put aside. It drained me of energy, created bleeding sores on my body and attacked my eyes. This was especially hard on me, because reading was one of the few remaining pleasures I had, now that I can not eat proper food, I am chained to the feeding machine for five hours a day and can not use the pool in this lovely weather. So we consulted with the chemo doctor and he told me to come to the hospital.

In this lovely hospital, which is surrounded by colorful flowers (the lavenders are just blooming) I spent nearly a week. They gave me some new kind of food, antibioticks against the sores, they cleared up my eyes and put on a morphium patch against the pain I had. So now I am at home, waiting for the side effects of the chemotherapy to go away and hoping that the tumors will not start spreading again.

I was again impressed by the smooth-running French medical system. The whole fully automated administration runs without a hitch, you do not have to wait, they are programed ahead and know what they are doing. At the same time the doctors are helpful and the nurses are very professional and charming. But it is still better to be at home where Anne takes very good care of me.

What the future has in store I do not know, but I am prepared to face all contingencies. I had a long, interesting and happy life, I was able to help some people, which gave me a lot of satisfaction. I ended up with a lot of friends and no enemies. I think this is a considerable achievement and a success. So I am enjoying the lovely environment and weather here and do not worry about what is ahead of me.
